About Me
I am an artist. I combine any media and technique to express my vision. Many works are made of textiles in which I push the envelope of sumptuousness, using colour and the tactile qualities of silks, indigo shibori, old Oriental brocades and hand-dyed fabrics.
Influences in my work include Judy Chicago's famous 1970's installation, "The Dinner Party", showcasing courageous and brilliant women largely overlooked in HIStory, the Wearable Art movement, the textile traditions of Asia and India, Nancy Crow (art quilts), and Jane Dunnewold (artcloth). Other influences include Indigenous Australian artists Emily Kame Kngwarreye and Rover Thomas, writers on mythology, anthropology, archeology and literature. Everything is grist for the mill. |
Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.... |
